Nichole Miller poured in 20 points, leading three Curlew players in double-figures as the Cougars easily beat Lake Quinault 76-20 on Wednesday in the first round of the Class 1B girls state tournament.

The Cougars (23-1) rolled up an 18-4 lead after the first quarter and pulled out to a 42-6 halftime advantage.

Larissa Miller added 18 points and Kady Kirkendall 13 for the Cougars.

Nichole Miller pulled down a team-high eight rebounds as Curlew outrebounded LQ 42-21.

Curlew's defense came up with 13 steals, including five by Dani Gubler, as Lake Quinault turned the ball over 28 times.

Kellie Sansom led the Elks with nine points.
