Kristine Faunce scored 13 points and led a balanced scoring attack as Tekoa-Oakesdale defeated North Sound Christian 66-24 on Wednesday in the first round of the Class 1B girls state tournament.

Faunce poured in eight of her points in the first half as the Nighthawks (18-7) rolled up a 26-11 halftime lead and were never headed.

Kelsi Graffis added nine points and Desiree Chappell had eight for the winners, who shot 45.9 percent (28 of 61) to NSC's 20.5 percent (9 of 44).

Nicole Brekkaa led the Lions (15-7) with nine points.

T-O dominated the boards with a 49-24 rebounding advantage. Chappell had seven and Faunce added six.
