Teryssa Toppano scored the winning basket off an inbounds pass underneath her own basket with six seconds to play to lift Mary Knight a 51-49 Class 1B girls state tournament victory over Lummi.

The Owls, who improved to 13-8, won their first-ever girls state basketball game.

Alicia Scott, who threaded the inbounds pass to Toppano for the game-winner, knotted the score at 49-49 with a free throw with 11 seconds remaining.

Shareese Willey and Scott paced Mary Knight with 15 points each. Cassy Willey led the defensive effort with seven of her team's 27 steals.

The Owls trailed 32-20 at the half, but overcame most of that deficit with a 15-4 run in the final quarter. Shareese Willey scored seven of her team's points in that quarter to lead the charge.

Lorissa Cultee and Sarah Brady led Lummi (17-5) with nine points each. Merisa Jones snared a game-high 15 rebounds, and Shelby Landsem had 13.
