Cole Youngers poured in a game-high 19 points to lead Brewster to a 48-36 consolation victory over Vashon Island in the Class 1A boys state tournament Friday.

Youngers scored 11 points in the second half as the Bears (18-11) slowly pulled away. Brewster opened the fourth quarter with a 16-4 run to take command.

After a dismal shooting performance in the first half when they made just 19 percent (5 of 26) of their shots, the Bears connected on 10 of 20 after intermission.

John Gage led the Pirates (21-6) with 11 points and a game-high 13 rebounds.

Bryce Sheller scored nine points and had eight rebounds, and Austin Bensen added eight points and six rebounds for the Bears. Youngers also pulled down eight rebounds.
