David Downs scored nine of his game-high 23 points in overtime to lead top-ranked Bellevue Christian to a 63-56 win over Freeman in the Class 1A boys state tournament Wednesday.

The Vikings (22-2) led most of the first half, but Freeman (17-11) snatched the lead early in the third quarter and led by as much as 11, 40-29, late in the period.

But BC came back, and the two teams traded leads three times Freeman's Taylor Vold knotted the game at 50-50. Both teams missed shots to win it in regulation.

Downs took over in overtime, and BC slowly pulled to a safe lead.

BC's Aaron Iseman added four of his 11 points in overtime, and Jeff Aly and Jeff Rerucha each chipped in 10. Brian Baranowski pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds.

Marc Soelberg led four Freeman shooters in double-figures with 15 points. Vold had 13, and Jake Heinen and Chris Miller both had 10.
