Talon Rakoz swished a free throw with 24.9 seconds left to cap a 14-point comeback and lift Toledo past Lakeside (Nine Mile Falls) 63-62 in the consolation bracket of the Class 1A boys state tournament Thursday.

Rakoz, who finished with 11 of his 17 points in the second half, made the first shot but missed the second. After bringing the ball upcourt and a timeout, the Eagles couldn't get off a shot before the final buzzer.

Jarrod Yates led Toledo (14-12) with 20 points, and David Wallace added 11 points and six rebounds.

The Indians trailed by 14 midway through the third quarter, but then went on a 25-14 run to take a 62-60 lead with 1:39 to play on a pull-up jumper by Yates.

Lakeside's Kyle Stillar, who scored 16 points, knotted the score at 62 with a putback of his own miss with 52 seconds left before Rakoz's game-winner.

Leif Parcell led the Eagles (15-12) with 19 points, and Brady Blankevoort had 10 rebounds.

Both teams shot well: Toledo converted 58 percent (21 of 36) of its shots to Lakeside's 54 percent (27 of 50). The Indians were even better in the second half, making 68 percent (13 of 19).

Rakoz made 4 of 6 shots, including a three-pointer, and made 8 of 10 tries from the free-throw line.

Toledo also capitalized on 17 Lakeside turnovers, converting them into 26 points.
