Burbank turns back
Chelan in OT, 61-58
Smith leads Coyotes with game-high 23 points

Brianna Smith poured in
a game-high 23 points as fourth-ranked Columbia (Burbank) held off No. 9
Chelan 61-58 in overtime Wednesday in the first round of the Class 1A
girls state basketball tournament.
Chelan's Kelli Bowers
sank a 3-pointer with 19 seconds remaining in regulation to force the
overtime. It was the first time since the opening tip that the Goats
weren't trailing.
Tiffany Idler, who
chipped in 11 points for Burbank (21-3), snapped the tie in overtime
with a layup, Smith added two free throws and Ashlee Holst added another
free shot that put the Coyotes up by five, 59-54, and Chelan never got
closer than two points the rest of the way.
Smith converted 6 of
11 shots, including 3 of 6 3-point tries. She also converted 8 of 10
free-throw attempts.
Idler pulled down a
team-high eight rebounds, and Idler had seven.
Alisha Love led Chelan
(18-7) with 14 points, and Izzy Barth added 11 and nine rebounds.
