Smith's 21 leads Coyotes past Nooksack Valley, 48-37

Brianna Smith poured in
a game-high 21 points to lead fourth-ranked Burbank past Nooksack Valley
48-38 on Thursday in the Class 1A girls state quarterfinals.
Tied at 30-30 midway
through the third quarter, the Coyotes (22-3) went on an 11-0 run,
including five points from Ashley Winsor, to push ahead 41-30. NV never
got closer than six the rest of the way.
Winsor finished with
12 points, and Tiffany Idler eight.
Erika Ramstead had 17
points and Amanda TeVelde seven rebounds for the Pioneers (16-11).
Nooksack Valley hurt
its own cause with 25 turnovers, which the Coyotes converted into 21
points.
The Pioneers also went
almost 11 minutes without scoring in the second half.
Of Burbank's 29
rebounds, 16 came off the offensive glass and were put back for 15
points.
