 Nooksack tops SA, 53-39

Way's 17 points lifts Pioneers into Saturday's trophy round

Danielle Way scored a team-high 17 points as Nooksack Valley pulled away in the second half Friday for a 53-39 consolation-round win over Seattle Academy in the Class 1A girls state tournament.

Way poured in 14 of her points in the second half. Teammate Erika Ramstead scored 11 of her 14 after intermission, and also pulled down a team-high 11 rebounds.

The Pioneers (17-11) shot 38 percent (18 of 48) for the game, while the Cardinals (18-7) managed just 23 percent (12 of 52).

Mackenzie Brandon scored 10 points and Mani Hooyman pulled down 11 rebounds for Seattle Academy.
