Amanda TeVelde scored 14 of her game-high 19 points in the first half as Nooksack Valley raced to a big lead en route to a 52-38 win over Onalaska in the first round of the Class 1A girls state tournament Wednesday.

Nooksack (16-10) rolled off the game's first nine points, including four from TeVelde, and led wire to wire. The Pioneers built a 20-point advantage early in the fourth quarter.

Danielle Way added nine points and a game-high 11 rebounds for NV. Teammate Erika Ramstead added seven points, seven rebounds, three assists and two steals to the cause.

Amber Durand led Onalaska (17-7) with 11 points, and Jayme Ahmann pulled down seven rebounds.
