One win away for LC

Lyncs top Lakeside 49-29, play for ninth title Saturday

Brianne Ryan scored 13 points and pulled down 11 rebounds as top-ranked Lynden Christian cruised past Lakeside of Nine Mile Falls 49-29 in the Class 1A girls state semifinals Friday.

LC will face Columbia of Burbank (23-3) in Saturday's 9 p.m. championship game. The Lyncs will be seeking their ninth title; the Coyotes their first.

Ryan scored 10 points in the second half. Teammates Shannon Brandsma and Jill Elgersma chipped in eight each.

The Lyncs, who improved to 28-0, took control of the game with a 17-2 scoring advantage in the second quarter. Lakeside (17-12) never got closer than 20 points in the second half.

The Lyncs' hot shooting pushed them in the first half. LC made 48 percent (10 of 21) of its shots, while Lakeside converted only 15 percent (3 of 20). For the game, LC shot 40 percent (17 of 43) to Lakeside's 25 percent (10 of 40).

Kelli Tikker paced Lakeside with seven points and Alex Daggy added six.

The Lyncs' defense scooped up 11 steals, including three by Kenzie De Boer, and helped force the Eagles into 20 turnovers.
