Mackenzie Brandon poured in 33 points as Seattle Academy shrugged off a cold start to beat Rainier 56-42 on Wednesday in the Class 1A girls state tournament.

Brandon made 13 of 24 shots and hit all six of her free-throw tries. She scored 10 of SA's first 12 points to open the second half and put the game out of reach.

Teammate Mani Hooyman pulled down 10 rebounds, blocked four shots and grabbed three steals. Brandon also had seven rebounds.

Kristen Schoenherr led the Mountaineers (17-8) with 17 points, and Chelsey Owens added 10 points and 12 rebounds.

The Mountaineers committed 24 turnovers and made just 27 percent (13 of 49) of their field-goal attempts.
