 Eagles top Vashon, 57-40

Debbie Molsbarger scored 14 points to lead fifth-ranked Connell to a 57-40 victory over Vashon in the Class 1A girls state tournament Wednesday.

Molsbarger hit 5 of 13 shots, including 2 of 3 3-point attempts, as the Eagles improved to 18-6 overall. Yessenia Vergara chipped in nine points and Kaitlin Eppich had eight.

Zelda Porter paced Vashon with 14 points and Kelly Costello added 11.

Connell converted 38 percent (20 of 53) of its shots, but Vashon couldn’t find the mark consistently, making just 25 percent (15 of 60) of its attempts.
