TOURNEYTOWN.COM

Tomas Whitehall scored eight of his game-high 14 points in the second half -- including the go-ahead basket just before the end of the third quarter -- to lead Entiat to a 45-35 quarterfinal victory over Neah Bay in the Class 1B boys state tournament Thursday.

The win pushes the Tigers (20-2) into Friday's 4 p.m. semifinals against Sunnyside Christian.

Whitehall's putback with 14 seconds to play in the third snapped a 29-all tie. He added two more baskets to open fourth-quarter scoring, and Neah Bay couldn't get closer than five points the rest of the way.

Jacob Andersen added nine points and seven rebounds for Entiat.

The Tigers' defense came up with 15 steals, including five from Kevin Arnold and four each from Andersen and Leonardo Quezada, and helped pressure Neah Bay into 25 turnovers.

Dominick DeBari led the Red Devils (19-2) with 11 points, and Cody Bartlett pulled down 10 rebounds.
