Jeremy Siefken poured in a game-high 26 points and Mark Wilson added 21 as Liberty Christian captured fifth place in the Class 1B boys state tournament with a 77-41 win over Cusick on Saturday.

The Patriots, who finished 21-7 and earned a trophy for the second straight year, bolted to a 23-8 after the first quarter, and put the game away with a 19-2 scoring run in the second quarter.

Derek Stratton chipped in 12 points for LC, which converted 54 percent (31 of 57) of its shots to Cusick’s 29 percent (15 of 52).

Stratton led the rebounding effort with eight and Wilson pulled down six as the Patriots dominated the boards 41-29.

Cusick, which finished its year at 19-7 and earned the school’s first trophy since 1981, committed 17 turnovers, which LC converted into 22 points.

Raymond Ostlie paced the Panthers with 13 points and six rebounds, and Louie Bluff also had six rebounds.

Liberty Christian placed third in the 2007 tournament.
