Desiree Buttram poured in a team-high 22 points, and Neah Bay held off a late Lake Quinault charge to beat the Elks 62-52 in the consolation bracket of the Class 1B girls state tournament Thursday.

The Red Devils effectively put the game away with a 21-9 run in the third quarter that extended their 29-26 halftime lead to 50-35 at the end of three periods.

But Lake Quinault rallied back in the final quarter. Carly Sansom, who scored a game-high 25 points, sank 18 of those after intermission. However, the Elks never were able to catch up to the Red Devils.

Shayla Greene added 17 points and Lorraine Greene 12 points and 15 rebounds for Neah Bay, which converted 47.3 percent (26 of 55) of its shots.

Kellie Sansom had 12 points and 11 rebounds for Lake Quinault, and teammate Kelsey Jensen hauled down a game-high 17 rebounds.

Though she led the game in scoring, Carly Sansom converted only 9 of 34 shots, including 7 of 32 3-point tries.
