Vikings cruise to win

Bower leads Gar-Pal's 43-19 victory over St. John-Endicott

Bridget Bower scored 11 points to lead second-ranked Garfield-Palouse to a 43-19 quarterfinal win over St. John-Endicott in the Class 1B girls state basketball tournament Thursday.

The win sends the Vikings (22-4) into Friday's 9 p.m. semifinal against top-ranked Sunnyside Christian.

Gar-Pal jumped out to a 14-2 lead after the first quarter and was never threatened thereafter.

Bower was the game's lone double-digit scorer, but teammates Elisha Lopez and Katie Redman each chipped in six points.

Redman also led the Vikings' 39-25 rebounding advantage with eight rebounds. Bower added four rebounds, six assists and eight of Gar-Pal's 15 steals.

Kelly Van Lith led the Eagles (13-13) with five points, and Trisha Luft had five rebounds.
