Jones leads Lummi win

Blackhawks ensured of first trophy, will play for fifth

Merisa Jones scored 11 points and pulled down 11 rebounds to lead Lummi to a 37-28 win Friday over North Sound Christian and ensure the Blackhawks their first-ever girls state basketball trophy.

The Blackhawks, who took the lead for good at the end of the first quarter, will face Neah Bay at 10:30 a.m. Saturday for fifth and eighth places in the Class 1B girls state tournament.

Sara Brady added eight points for Lummi, which improved to 19-6, and Jaysonha Revey added eight rebounds.

Melissa Castor led NSC with 12 points, and Elyse Bunger grabbed 11 rebounds. But the Lions (15-10) suffered from poor shooting, making just 19.6 percent (10 of 51) of their shots.
