Hull leads Pateros, 50-40

Nannies slowly pull ahead of Lake Quinault

Clara Hull poured in a team-high 22 points as Pateros beat Lake Quinault 50-40 in the Class 1B girls state tournament Wednesday.

Hull converted just 7 of 21 shots, but made 8 of 12 free-throw attempts. She also pulled down a game-high 15 rebounds, and had an assist and two steals.

Pateros (18-5) took the lead for good on a Hull layup with 3:01 to play in the first half that put the Nannies up 13-12. They built a four-point lead at the half, and Lake Quinault never got closer than two points in the second half.

Vanessa Taylor added 15 points and seven rebounds for Pateros, and Lorrie Mattson added eight rebounds.

Kelile Sansom scored a game-high 23 points and had 12 rebounds for the Elks, who fell to 18-3. Carla Sansom added 14 points.
