TOURNEYTOWN.COM
Thea Sansom scored a
game-high 17 points to lead Touchet to a 57-24 victory over Neah Bay in
the first round of the Class 1B girls state basketball tournament
Wednesday.
Sansom scored 14
points in the second half. Teammates Taryn Short and Megan Howerton each
chipped in 10 points for the Indians (20-4), who raced to a 35-10
halftime advantage.
Touchet put the game
effectively out of reach with a 23-8 run in the first quarter. The
Indians converted 36.6 percent (15 of 41) of their shots in the first
half, and made 35.7 percent (25 of 70) for the game.
Neah Bay hurt its
cause with poor shooting and ball handling. The Red Devils made just
21.7 percent (10 of 46) of their shots, and committed 31 turnovers to
Touchet’s 12.
Desiree Buttram,
Shayla Nagel and Lorraine Greene each had six points for Neah Bay
(11-8).
