Prosser rolls by Bantams

French pours in 17 points to lead Mustangs' 59-49 victory

TACOMA -- Lacie French scored 17 points and Prosser shot 48 percent from the field as the Mustangs beat Clarkston 59-49 on Wednesday in the first round of the Class 2A girls state tournament.

French was 6 of 7 from the field and hit all three 3-pointers for the Mustangs (18-6). The Mustangs made 25 of 52 shots as a team.

Freshman Tamara Jones added 15 points and six rebounds for Prosser while Jordan Brown scored 10 to go with four assists and four steals.

The Bantams (12-12) shot just 31 percent. Junior Kellie McCann-Smith led Clarkston with 20 points but hit just 5 of 17 shots and turned the ball over nine times. Jamie Berhammer scored 13 points and grabbed five rebounds for Clarkston.
