TACOMA -- Kayla Standish
scored 17 points and Casey Kelleher added 14 points and 11 rebounds as
Ellensburg beat league-rival Othello 55-48 in the Class 2A girls
quarterfinals on Thursday night.
Othello finished first in the CWAC this season and Ellensburg finished
second. The two teams split a pair of games during the regular season,
but the Bulldogs (22-4) took control of this one early. They never
trailed and led by as many as 17 points in the second half.
Tana Ferrell added 13
points and 10 rebounds for Ellensburg. The Gonzaga-bound Standish also
had four of Ellensburg's 13 steals.
Ellensburg is in the semifinals for just the second time in school
history.
The Huskies (23-4) are making their first-ever appearance in the state
tournament. Allison Walker led Othello with 14 points and 12 rebounds.
Courtney Kirkwood added 11 points.
