Late trey lifts Rams
Larson's three-pointer gives West Valley 42-39 victory
THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
SEATTLE -- Junior Amy
Larson hit a 3-pointer with 48.1 seconds left to put West Valley up by
three, and the Rams held on for a 42-39 win over Seattle Prep in the
quarterfinals of the Class 3A girls state tournament on Thursday.
With 1:03 left Prep's Dae'veonna Munson hit a 3 to tie it at 39 and set
up Larson's heroics. Prep had a chance to tie, but when Monica Salazar
went up for a 3-pointer a West Valley player got a hand on the ball,
forcing a jump ball. After hitting the floor Salazar took the 3 and made
it, but it came after the whistle.
Salazar's desperation shot fell short at the buzzer.
Sophomore Haley Curtis had 15 points to lead West Valley (19-5), which
shot 44 percent in the second half en route to the win.
Candace Chambers led Prep (23-6) with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
