TACOMA -- Tana Ferrell had 17 points and 12 rebounds and Ellensburg advanced to its first state title game with a 61-53 win over Elma in the Class 2A girls semifinals Friday night.

Ellensburg (23-4) led by 12 at halftime, but was outscored 21-8 in the third quarter to see their lead erased. But Elma's 44-43 lead was short-lived as the Bulldogs regained control behind Ferrell and Kayla Standish, who added 16 points on 7 of 11 shooting.

Elmas Brandi Thomas tried to bring the Eagles back, scoring six of Elmas final eight points. A jumper by Thomas with just over a minute to play closed the deficit to 55-53. Thomas led all scorers with 24 points.
