Prosser falls in semis

River Ridge pulls away for 62-43 win over Mustangs

TACOMA -- Sophie Russell scored all 14 of her points in the first half, and River Ridge pulled away in the second half for a 62-43 win over Prosser in the Class 2A girls semifinals Friday night.

River Ridge led by just seven at halftime, before breaking open the close game and earning its shot at a second consecutive state title.

Kelsey Russell added 13 points, Courtney Blume had 12 and Keisha McDonald scored 11 for the Hawks, who improved to 23-3. Jasmine McDonald grabbed 14 rebounds for the Hawks.

River Ridge led 29-22 at halftime, before outscoring the Mustangs (19-7) 33-21 in the second half.

Tamara Jones led Prosser with 16 points, 12 coming in the first half. Jordan Brown added 14 for the Mustangs, who couldn't overcome 25 turnovers.
