Defending champ Auburn Riverside rolls to 62-25 win

SEATTLE -- Katie Grad contributed 16 points during a 26-0 Auburn Riverside run, and the defending champion Ravens get their shot at a second straight title after beating West Valley 62-25 in the Class 3A semifinals Friday night.

The Ravens (24-3) held West Valley scoreless for 11 minutes, 4 seconds of the second half.

Auburn Riverside, which raced to a 14-0 lead, was up 33-23 midway through the third quarter when Grad started the scoring run by sinking a 3-pointer from the right corner. She followed with a layup and a free throw, helping the Ravens extend their lead to 42-23 heading into the fourth quarter.

West Valley didn't score from the 4:21 mark of the third quarter until 1:17 remained in the game as Auburn Riverside put together its 26-point surge.

Nobody for West Valley came close to double figures. Katelin Sillery led the Rams (19-10) with five points, six below her season average. West Valley will play for third place on Saturday.

Mercedes Wetmore and Kathleen Cooper added nine points apiece for Riverside.
