Nick Byrd scored a game-high 23 points to lift Burbank to a 56-39 consolation-round win over Ilwaco on Thursday in the Class 1A boys state tournament.

Byrd canned 8 of 17 shots, including 5 of 9 3-point attempts. He also collected eight rebounds, two assists and a steal.

The Coyotes (13-12) took the lead from the outset, quickly taking a 6-0 lead on back-to-back treys by Byrd. Ilwaco never got closer than four points.

Jordan Rada chipped in 13 points and pulled down 11 rebounds for Burbank.

Jack Whealdon led Ilwaco (16-11) with 12 points.
