John Gage and Alex Wegner led four Pirates in double-figures with 15 points each as top-ranked Vashon cruised past Lake Roosevelt 73-50 in the Class 1A boys state quarterfinals Thursday.

Chris Pieterick and Max Burnham chipped in 10 each for the Pirates (24-1), who took the lead for good late in the first quarter after Wegner scored five straight points.

Vashon blew the game open with a 13-1 run early in the third quarter. Gage had eight points during that spread.

Wegner pulled down nine rebounds, and Gage had eight rebounds, four assists and four blocks. Wegner and Pieterick each had two steals.

Edward Wolfe led Lake Roosevelt (16-9) with 12 points, and Ronald Salas had 10.
