King's tops Chelan in
OT
Hoff's 28 points leads Knights; Goats' Harris nets 38
TOURNEYTOWN.COM
Nick Hardy opened overtime with a 3-pointer -- his only field goal of
the game -- and it pushed King's ahead to
stay as the Knights went on for a 69-66 upset win over Chelan on
Thursday in the Class 1A boys state tournament quarterfinals.
Ryan Hoff, who led King's with 28 points
and made 8 of 14 treys, followed with a 3-pointer, and the Knights held
off the Goats with free throws to advance to Friday's 8 p.m. semifinals.
Sean Brugger added 15 points and Zack Berg 10 for King's (19-7).
Alex Mar dished out 13 assists.
Chelan's Joe Harris sent the game into overtime with a 3-pointer with 14
seconds in regulation that knotted the score at 58-58. A last-second
King's shot at the buzzer missed its mark.
Harris scored 38 points on 13-of-17 shooting, including four 3-pointers.
But he picked up his fifth foul on a charge with 25 seconds left in
overtime and the Goats (23-5) trailing 66-64.
Mat Engstrom added 13 points and six rebounds for Chelan.
King's led the entire second half until Harris' game-tying shot.
The Knights made just 40 percent (21 of 53) of their shots, while Chelan
converted 52 percent (25 of 48).
