Bears win rubber match

Brewster beats Lake Roosevelt, 59-48, in fifth meeting

Eli Driessen scored eight of his 11 points in the fourth quarter to help Brewster past Lake Roosevelt 59-48 on Friday in the Class 1A boys state tournament.

Driessen sank two jumpers to open the fourth quarter and snap a 40-40 tie that gave the Bears the lead for good. Brewster made 12 of 16 free throws in the final 2:34 to seal the win.

Brewster (23-6) won three of five meetings against Lake Roosevelt (16-10) this season, including two in the postseason.

Wade Gebbers poured in a game-high 25 points for the Bears, and Stockton Taylor added 18 points and a game-high 11 rebounds.

Edward Wolfe led the Raiders with 15 points.
