Wade Gebbers and Eli Driessen combined for 30 second-half points as Brewster upended fifth-ranked Winlock 55-47 on Wednesday in the Class 1A boys state tournament.

Gebbers scored 13 of his team-high 20 and Driessen 17 of his 19 after intermission, when the Bears (22-5) used an eight-point run in the fourth quarter to pull ahead of the much-larger Cardinals (21-3), who held about a five-inch height advantage per man.

"Stockton (Taylor) and Sean (Divis) were unbelievable on both ends of the floor on their big guys -- and those are good big guys," said Brewster coach Cass Gebbers. "That's a talented team. I was impressed."

Driessen hit back-to-back 3-pointers to give Brewster the lead for good with 5:33 to play, then added two free throws that made it 41-35 with 3:54 to play.

Ten of Gebbers' second-half points came at the free-throw line as the Cardinals were forced to foul late to try to get back the ball.

For the game, the Bears made 16 of 21 free-throw shots.

Jake Brown scored 22 points and Jordan Davis hauled in 10 rebounds for the Cardinals. Davis also had 11 points.
