Davis, Brown lead Winlock's 56-38 win over Naches Valley

Jordan Davis scored 15 points and Jake Brown added 14 as Winlock pulled away from Naches Valley in the second half to grab fifth place in the Class 1A boys state tournament with a 56-38 win Saturday.

The Cardinals (24-2) shot 59 percent (19 of 32) from the field en route to matching their best state finish and earning their third trophy. Winlock was 11 for 17 from the field in the second half.

Brown scored 10 of his points in the second half, hitting 3 of 4 field goals and all four free-throw tries.

Adam Ranger led Naches Valley (18-9) with 15 points, and made 3 of 8 3-point tries. But the Rangers only made 33 percent (13 of 40) shots for the game.

The Rangers, making their first state trip in 11 years, earned their first trophy since winning the Class A title in 1987.
