Kenzie De Boer poured in 23 points to lead third-ranked Lynden Christian to a 59-42 first-round victory over Rainier in the Class 1A girls state tournament Wednesday.

De Boer made 10 of 16 shots, as the Lyncs (22-3) had hot shooting hands in the game, converting 24 of 44 attempts (54.5 percent).

Alisha Friberg added 15 points for LC, which took the lead for good midway through the second quarter.

The Lyncs turned 17 Rainier turnovers into 27 points. De Boer finished with seven of her team's 10 steals.

De Boer also had four assists and a blocked shot.

Kristen Schoenherr led Rainier (15-10) with 21 points, and Kate Simpson had seven rebounds.

The Mountaineers struggled from the field, making just 29 percent (11 of 38) of their shots, including just 3 of 18 in the second half.
