Lexi Peterson scored a game-high 23 points to lift top-ranked Seattle Christian to a 62-49 opening-round victory over Toledo in the Class 1A girls state tournament Wednesday.

Peterson poured in 15 points in the second half as the Warriors (23-1) struggled to shake off the Indians (17-6) until late in the game.

Melissa Collier added 15 points for SC. The Warriors took advantage of 19 Toledo turnovers, converting them in 18 points.

Candi Zion led Toledo with 13 points, and Tiffany Tornow added 12.

The Indians outrebounded SC 44-34, with Ashlee Coffey pulling down a team-high six.
