Chelan routs Pirates

Bowers leads Goats' 49-33 consolation-round victory

Kelli Bowers scored 13 points and Sydney Austin added 10 as sixth-ranked Chelan eliminated Vashon, 49-33, from the Class 1A girls state tournament Thursday.

The Goats (21-6) opened the game with a 12-3 run and steadily pulled away. Vashon never got closer than four points.

The Goats' defense came away with 11 steals, and helped force Vashon into 19 turnovers. Chelan turned those miscues into 22 points.

Zelda Porter led Vashon (17-7) with 20 points.

Jaicee Harris pulled down a game-high 13 rebounds for Chelan.
