Elks get shot at fifth
Mayton's 18 points leads Lake Quinault to 52-38 victory

Michael Mayton poured in 18 points and
sparked Lake Quinault to a 52-38 consolation-round victory over Pateros
on Friday in the Class 1B boys state tournament.
The win sends the Elks (13-12) into
Saturday's 10 a.m. contest that will decide fifth and eighth places.
Pateros ended its season at 15-11.
Mayton sank 7 of 12 shots, including a
3-pointer. He also had five assists, five steals and a blocked shot.
The Elks built a 12-point lead late in the
third quarter and withstood a mild Pateros run that cut their lead to
five, 41-36, with 6:15 to play. Mayton then hit a layup that started an
11-0 run that put the game away.
Cameron Daniels added 16 points and
Cameron Pumphrey had 13 points and 12 rebounds for the Elks.
Abram Wilson led the Billygoats with 16
points and 10 rebounds.
