Rosalia tops Elks, 54-44
Spartans earn first trophy since 1981, fourth overall

Nathan Richards scored 17 points and Jim Maley added 16 as Rosalia beat
Lake Quinault 54-44 on Saturday for fifth place in the Class 1B boys
state tournament.
Richards scored 11 of his points in the second half, including eight
during the Spartans' 17-6 third-quarter run that put them up by 15. Lake
Quinault never got closer than eight the rest of the way.
The Spartans (19-7) earned their fourth trophy in eight state trips, and
their first since 1981. Lake Quinault (13-13) earned its second trophy
in five state trips.
Rosalia shot 53.7 percent (22 of 41) from the field, while the Elks
converted only 31.3 percent (15 of 48). Richards made 8 of 11 field
goals, and Maley 7 of 11.
Maley also had a game-high 13 of Rosalia's 36 rebounds, three assists
and a blocked shot. He finished with four double-doubles in the
tournament.
Michael Mayton scored 15 points, Cameron Pumphrey had 12 and Cameron
Daniels chipped in 11 points for Lake Quinault.
