Tulalip bursts to big win

McKinney scores 22 in Hawks' 68-33 victory over Pateros

Lesjar McKinney scored 22 points and pulled down 13 rebounds as Tulalip Heritage rolled to a 68-33 victory over Pateros on Wednesday in the first round of the Class 1B boys state tournament.

McKinney scored 13 of his total in the second half, when the Hawks turned a 14-point halftime lead into a 43-point advantage, 63-20, early in the fourth quarter.

Keith Davis added 15 points for the Hawks. McKinney pulled down a game-high 13 of Tulalip's 41 rebounds.

McKinney was a one-man show: He also dished out seven assists, blocked two shots and had four steals.

The Hawks, who never trailed, shot 51.7 percent (30 of 58) for the game, while Pateros made just 23.2 percent (13 of 56) of its shots.

Abram Wilson led the Billygoats with 19 points and nine rebounds.
