SJE rolls up 47-30 win

Warriors will play for first title against top-ranked Colton

Kelly Van Lith scored 12 points and Kelsey Simon added 11 as St. John-Endicott pulled away down the stretch to beat St. Michael's 47-30 in a Class 1B girls state semifinal game Friday.

The Eagles (19-4) will face top-ranked and unbeaten Colton at 7 p.m. Saturday for the state title. Neither has won a 1B title.

The Eagles led just 20-15 at the half, but used a 16-7 third quarter to take command and slowly increase their lead.

Their biggest advantage was 45-22 late in the contest.

SJE's defense swarmed the Warriors (12-14) and came away with 17 steals, including six by Van Lith. St. Michael's committed 27 turnovers.

Katie Drass paced St. Michael's with 12 points, and Katie Urann pulled down nine rebounds.
