Lummi posts best finish

Blackhawks beat Columbia, 43-35, for fourth place

Sarah Brady scored 12 points and Rikkole Edwards added 10 as Lummi held off Columbia of Hunters 43-35 on Saturday for fourth place in the Class 1B girls state tournament.

Amanda Humphreys made back-to-back 3-pointers and Brady chipped in a third during a 13-0 run in the second quarter that snapped a 14-14 tie and put the Blackhawks ahead for good. Columbia never got closer than five points the rest of the game.

Lummi earned its highest placing in three state trips and has trophied each time. Columbia (21-6), in its first state trip since 1988, won its fourth trophy in four trips to state.

Kyla Frajman grabbed nine rebounds for Lummi, and Tiffany Tauberheim had seven.

Krista Colvin led Columbia with 12 points and nine rebounds.
