Evan Coulter poured in 20 of his game-high 29 points in the second half as sixth-ranked Burlington-Edison pulled away for a 64-52 quarterfinal victory over Clarkston in the Class 2A boys state tournament Thursday.

The win sends the Tigers (18-7) into Friday's 9 p.m. semifinal against River Ridge (21-4).

Coulter scored seven points in a 10-run what snapped a 36-36 tie and gave the Tigers a 46-36 lead with 7:13 to play in the game.

Coulter made 10 of 22 shots, including a pair of 3-pointers. He was also 7-of-9 from the free-throw line. Ian Capron added 10 points and pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds.

Dustin McConnell scored 14 points and Brady Amone had 10 for the Bantams (16-10), who shot 50 percent (19 of 38) for the game. But Clarkston turned the ball over 26 times, including 14 times by B-E steals.

Coulter had five steals and Capron three for the Tigers.
