Tigers maul River Ridge

Burlington-Edison faces top-ranked Squalicum for title

Evan Coulter scored 27 points as Burlington-Edison rolled past River Ridge 66-54 on Friday's Class 2A boys state semifinals.

B-E will face top-ranked Squalicum in Saturday's 9 p.m. title game. Squalicum has beaten the Tigers twice this season, including an 86-50 thumping in the Tri-District championship game March 6.

Coulter made 11 of 17 shots. Teammates Colin Stewart and Ian Capron added 15 and 11 points, respectively, as the Tigers (19-7) kept River Ridge at bay most of the second half, excepting a short rally that brought the Hawks within five points.

Younase Dunn led the Hawks with 29 points on 13-of-18 shooting. Tyler Nelson and Joel King each added 10 points, and Ross Creamer snared 12 rebounds.

The Tigers shot 55 percent (27 of 49) for the game, including 64 percent (14 of 22) in the first half. RR shot 48 percent (22 of 46).
