Hawks outlast N. Mason

Dunn's 14 points helps lift River Ridge by Bulldogs, 42-34

Younase Dunn scored 14 points and Tyler Nelson 11 as third-ranked River Ridge beat No. 4 North Mason 42-34 on Wednesday in the Class 2A boys state tournament.

Teammate Ross Creamer's 3-pointer with 1:51 to play in the third gave the Hawks (20-4) a 25-24 lead they'd never relinquish. It also started an 8-0 run that put them up 30-24, and North Mason didn't get closer than four points the rest of the way.

John Fullington led the Bulldogs (18-5) with 12 points and nine rebounds.

The Hawks rallied from a 16-14 halftime deficit with hot second-half shooting, making 59 percent (10 of 17) of their shots. Dunn made 4 of 7 and Nelson 3 of 4 after the break.
