 Trey's treys lead Bantams

Sobotta's 3-point barrage spurs Clarkston to 67-47 victory

Trey Sobotta broke open a close game with three consecutive 3-pointers in the third quarter as Clarkston pulled away for a 67-47 first-round victory over Sequim in the Class 2A boys state tournament Wednesday.

Sobotta, who scored a team-high 16 points, swished 4 of 5 treys and made 5 of 8 shots overall. He scored 11 of his points in the second half.

His three straight 3-pointers turned a 30-27 game into a 39-27 contest with 4:11 to play in the third. Brady Amone capped the run with another trey, and the Wolves never got closer than 11 points again.

Dustin McConnell added 12 points for the Bantams (15-9), who made 58 percent of their shots (11 of 19) in the second half.

John Textor and Ary Webb scored 17 and 12 points, respectively, for the Wolves (9-15).

Bryce James hauled in eight rebounds for Clarkston, which outrebounded Sequim 36-26.
