Coulter's 18 points helps lift Tigers to 80-41 first-round win

Evan Coulter led three Tigers players in double figures with 18 points as sixth-ranked Burlington-Edison rolled past Tumwater 80-41 on Wednesday in the Class 2A boys state tournament.

Colin Stewart added 15 points and Craig Babington 14 as the Tigers (17-7) put the game out of reach with a 34-15 spread in the third quarter.

The Tigers shot 56 percent (33 of 59), including a blistering 64 percent (21 of 33) in the second half.

Tumwater (12-11) got 14 points from Daniel De Vries, but no other player scored more than six.

The Thunderbirds hurt their own cause with 29 turnovers, while B-E snared 19 steals, including four each from Coulter and Ian Capron. B-E turned the miscues into 26 points.

Capron pulled down nine rebounds for B-E, which outrebounded Tumwater 40-27.
