ATM rolls on, into semis

Smith, Lyman score 12 each in Wildcats' 45-35 victory

Alyssa Smith and Shelby Lyman each scored 12 points to lead second-ranked and unbeaten Archbishop Murphy to a 45-35 quarterfinal win over Kingston on Thursday in the Class 2A girls state tournament.

The Wildcats (25-0) advance to Friday's 7:30 p.m. semifinal against top-ranked Prosser (23-1).

ATM never trailed and built a 14-point lead midway through the fourth quarter. The Wildcats shot 43 percent (16 of 37) to Kingston's 26 percent (10 of 39), and never let the Buccaneers (18-7) claw closer than seven points in the final quarter.

Sophia Baetz scored 22 points for Kingston. She made 5 of 17 shots, including three 3-pointers, and made 9 of 16 free throws.
