Lions roar to big victory

Shine leads Lynden's 55-24 first-round rout of Eatonville

Hannah Shine scored 13 points as Lynden used a 16-0 run in the second quarter to roll past Eatonville 55-24 on Wednesday in the first round of the Class 2A girls state tournament.

The Lions (20-4) used their second-quarter burst to take a 30-7 halftime lead. Eatonville never got closer.

All 12 Lynden team members played at least 10 minutes.

The Lions shot 46 percent (21 of 46) for the contest, while the Cruisers (13-10) made just 18 percent (7 of 40), including just 2 of 20 in the first half.

Becca Schrimpsher led Eatonville with 12 points.

Shine had six rebounds, two assists and a steal.
