Daron Dean led three players in double figures with 14 points as Hockinson beat Othello 48-39 on Wednesday in the Class 2A girls state tournament.

Michelle Haagen and Lejla Mlivic added 13 and 10 points, respectively, for the Hawks (21-3).

A Dean layup and a Mlivic 3-pointer late in the third quarter gave Hockinson the lead for good, 29-24, and Othello never got closer.

Allison Walker scored 19 points and grabbed 13 rebounds for the Huskies (16-8). But Othello made just six of 24 shots after the Hawks took the lead to stay.

Dean pulled down nine rebounds for the Hawks.
