Goats stomp LR, 63-39

Engstrom scores 16; Harris 11 shy of setting scoring mark

Matt Engstrom scored 16 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead No. 1-ranked Chelan past Lake Roosevelt 63-39 on Friday in the Class 1A boys state consolation round.

The victory sends the Goats (25-2) into Saturday's 8:30 a.m. game for fifth or eighth place against Nooksack Valley.

Joe Harris and Aaron McQuaid each added 14 points and Evan Reister 10 for Chelan.

LR (17-10) scored the game's first eight points, but Chelan powered back with an 18-0 run to close out the first quarter. The Raiders never got closer than nine points the rest of the way.

Harris is just 11 points shy of breaking the all-time 1A scoring record, set by Ryan Hansen of Cascade (Leavenworth), who has 2,382. Hansen played in the mid-90s.

The Goats outrebounded LR 44-20. Harris had eight and McQuaid seven along with Engstrom's 12.

Jake Fury and Tanner Loe each scored 11 points to lead the Raiders and Cade Egbert scored 10.

Chelan came up with 20 steals, including six from Michael Amsel Jr., five from Engstrom and four from Harris.
