Vikings get 55-52 win
Downs scores 24 points to lead Bellevue Chr. victory

David Downs scored a
game-high 24 points to lead Bellevue Christian to a 55-52 victory over
Onalaska on Friday in the Class 1A boys state tournament.
Downs converted 13 of
19 free throws for the bulk of his points, and BC (19-7) made 28 of 46
free-throw tries in the game.
Chris Pattison added
12 points -- eight from the line -- and came up with a key steal with 19
seconds left that all but sealed the victory.
Taylor Majors led
Onalaska (25-2) with 12 points and Cody Naillon finished with 10.
The Loggers trailed by
seven, 41-34, with 6:49 to play after two free throws by Downs, but
closed it to two, 51-49, after Majors hit a 3-pointer with 22 seconds to
play.
Forced to foul,
Onalaska couldn't get the ball back without sending BC to the free-throw
line.
